Ministry of home affairs in the process of making services online for foreign funded NGOs

In order to eliminate the need for foreign-funded non-governmental organizations (“NGOs”) to manually file applications and returns and make subsequent visits through their representatives to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (“FCRA”) division for status update the Ministry of Home Affairs (“MHA”) has vide a circular dated 28th July 2015 decided to make services under FCRA to go online in next 15-20 days on issuance of this circular in order to enable faster processing and disposal of matters. The MHA is in a process to enable all foreign-funded NGOs to conduct their following transactions online with FCRA division of MHA in the manner as given below:

  1. Filing application for registration/ prior permission/ renewal of registration;
  2. Giving intimations to MHA including filing annual returns of the foreign contributions received by them;
  3. The requisite documents to be attached with applications shall be uploaded online;
  4. Fee prescribed under the FCRA for the services shall be paid through online payment gateway &
  5. The queries & replies shall also be made to applicants through e-mails.

The NGOs registered under the FCRA, 2010 have been advised to update their information in the next 15 days of issuance of this circular at the link provided, i.e. “Registered Associations-Update information”.
